Psycho-educational assessments
Identify the learning difficulties your child may be experiencing.
These include but not limited to:
Specific learning issues (e.g. reading, writing).
Problems paying attention or concentrating.
Developmental delays.
Emotional issues (e.g. anxiety, depression).
Language barriers.
My tests will examine your child’s:
Intelligence
Ability to comprehend and process information.
Emotional development.
Mathematics proficiency.
Reading and writing skills.
I’ll interview you before I assess your child. You’ll also need to fill out the checklists and questionnaires I provide. Assessments tend to last between 3 – 4 hours, after which I provide feedback and a report detailing my recommendations and findings. A feedback meeting with the school to discuss your child’s results can be arranged.
Examination concession assessments
To ascertain whether your child needs special assistance in reaching her/his full potential. Some institutions mandate this type of assessment. Examples of the concessions offered include:
Additional time.
Readers who dictate text to learners in exams.
Scribes for verbatim transcriptions of learners’ dictations.
Accommodation for unusually illegible handwriting.
Computers for presenting answers in typeface.
Enlarged print for easier reading.
Prompters who refocus easily distracted learners.
Separate, quieter venues for learners to sit exams in.
School readiness assessments
Evaluating your child’s intellectual, fine motor, socio-emotional and verbal aptitudes to determine formal schooling preparedness.
